FUKUOKA, Japan - Two photos taken Feb. 19 show work continue on two luxury cruises being built for P&O Princess Cruises PLC at Koyagi Shipyard of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki Prefecture. Photo above shows the Diamond Princess, which was damaged by a fire in October 2002. The damaged parts of the ship have been removed to be replaced with new ones. The ship will be completed as the Diamond Sapphire. The photo below shows the Diamond Sapphire, which will now be competed as the Diamond Princess.

NAGASAKI, Japan - The 113,000-ton cruise ship Diamond Princess is towed by tugboats in Nagasaki Bay on Oct. 21 to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.'s dock in Koyagi, Nagasaki Prefecture, to repair damage sustained in a fire on Oct. 1. The vessel, owned by P&O Princess Cruises PLC of Britain, was launched in May, but caught fire while undergoing finishing work at another Mitsubishi dock in Nagasaki.

NAGASAKI, Japan - Photo taken Oct. 2 shows the 113,000-ton Diamond Princess damaged by fire while under construction at the Nagasaki shipyard of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Mitsubishi said Oct. 10 it and P&O Princess Cruises PLC, a major international cruise company based in Britain, have agreed to continue construction on the ship.

NAGASAKI, Japan - A fire that broke out Oct. 1 on the unfinished 113,000-ton luxury liner Diamond Princess was almost extinguished Oct. 2. The vessel, owned by British shipping company P&O Princess Cruises PLC, was under construction at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.'s Nagasaki shipyard and was to be one of the world's largest luxury liners.
