A teahouse above the hundred steps of Motomachi,Yokohama

Tanabe-no-Chaya (Tanabe Teahouse) was located in the Sengen Shinto Shrine precincts at the top of the Motomachi Hyakudan (100 steps) located on Motomachi Street. This place attracted many visitors because it commanded a panoramic view of the city. Unfortunately, everything, including the steps, was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. The hundred steps of Motomachi and Maeda-bashi Bridge,Yokohama

The stone steps visible in the centre are the Motomachi Hyakudan ( one hundred steps ). Sengen Shinto Shrine stands at the top of the stairs, with the border of Motomachi 2-chome and 3-chome at the bottom. The bridge in the foreground is Maedabashi, built when Horikawa Waterway was dug in 1860. Sengen Shrine

The view of the Sengen Shrine compounds which stands at the Miyagasaki-cho, presently part of Shizuoka city. Stone lanterns are arranged on both sides of the stairs, and the main building is surrounded by cedar trees. Mt. Fuji viewed from around Murayama, Fujinomiya City (?). When climbing to Mt. Fuji from Fujinomiya, travelers stopped at Murayama Sengen Shrine and Dainichi-do in Murayama Village to worship. Since Mt.
