Supercomputer 'K' slips to third

Japan's K supercomputer loses top spot

TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows "K," a supercomputer developed by Japanese state-backed major research institute Riken. "K" has lost top spot for computing speed to a U.S. supercomputer, according to a biannual ranking announced by the U.S.-European TOP500 project on June 18, 2012.
