Japan, China at U.S.-led RIMPAC 2014

Employee in serious condition after bitten by lioness

UTSUNOMIYA, Japan - This picture shows an aerial view of Nasu Safari Park in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture. Yasuki Uchiyama, a 21-year-old male employee was seriously injured on Dec. 25 after being mauled by a 14-year-old lioness. Uchiyama and a female zoo worker were cleaning a pen for the lions when the attack occurred. The lion cage is located on the right side of the picture in the center.

Antiseismic Fukushima plant building office

TOKYO, Japan - This undated photo shows the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant's emergency countermeasures office on the second floor of an antiseismic building on the plant's premises. Yasuki Murata, a worker for the utility, has been staying and working inside the building since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami crippled the plant, although its radiation-proofing measures are considered to be imperfect.
