In Xitou Township of Shexian County in east China's Anhui Province, local villagers have the tradition to make fish-shaped lanterns to pray for harvest and good fortune for over six centuries. While protecting the intangible cultural heritage, Xitou Township has worked on expanding new business forms in recent years. Fish-shaped lanterns of diverse sizes and materials have been made for display, performance, and sale.
