CASTEL GANDOLFO, Italy - Pope Benedict XVI waves to people in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome, on the evening of Feb. 28, 2013, just before resigning. Citing lack of strength due to aging, Benedict became the first pontiff to voluntarily step down in about six centuries.
