TOKYO, Japan - A chocolate statue of English soccer superstar David Beckham is encased in a building in Tokyo's central commercial district Shibuya on Dec. 17. The 3-meter-high sweet was produced by leading confectionery maker Meiji Seika Ltd. to mark Beckham's appearance in TV commercials for the company. Meiji Seika spent two and a half months making the statue using some several thousand tablets of chocolate.

OSAKA, Japan - Actor Kotaro Koizumi, one of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's son, holds Suntory Ltd's new low-malt, beer-like drink. Suntory said Sept. 4 in Osaka that it will use Kotaro, 23, in its TV commercials to promote the new product, ''Suntory Diet Nama.'' The commercials air nationwide from early October.
