Watanabe becomes youngest Japanese 'seven summiter'

FUKUOKA, Japan - Haruhisa Watanabe (file photo), a 22-year-old Japanese researcher at Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka, has become the youngest Japanese to conquer the tallest peaks on seven continents after climbing Mt. McKinley in North America, his family said June 17. (Kyodo)

Bullet sent to ex-lawmaker Suzuki's Tokyo office

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a building housing the office of former lawmaker Muneo Suzuki in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward. Police said Oct. 20 that a letter containing a rifle bullet was sent Oct. 19 to the office, together with a message calling him a ''traitor.'' The message was signed from ''Kenkoku Giyugun Kokuzoku Seibatsutai'' which roughly means ''nation-building volunteers corps to conquer traitors.'' (Kyodo)
