TOKYO, Japan - Lyricist Yu Aku (file photo taken in June, 2005), famous for writing many popular hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s, died of urethral cancer on Aug. 1. He was 70. Aku, whose real name is Hiroyuki Fukada, debuted as a songwriter in 1967 and produced many popular lyrics in various categories from enka (Japanese ballads) to pops.

Lyricist Yu Aku dies at 70

TOKYO, Japan - Lyricist Yu Aku (file photo taken in June, 2005), famous for writing many popular hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s, died of urethral cancer on Aug. 1. He was 70. Aku, whose real name is Hiroyuki Fukada, debuted as a songwriter in 1967 and produced many popular lyrics in various categories from enka (Japanese ballads) to pops. (Kyodo)
