Shikibo develops micro-print textile to prevent forgery

OSAKA, Japan - Textile maker Shikibo Ltd. said June 17 it has developed a textile (photo) onto which extremely minute images or characters can be etched with a laser to prevent forgery. SOUTH KOREA-YEONGDONG-NO GUN RI

(220729) -- CHUNGCHEONGBUK-DO, July 29, 2022 (Xinhua) -- A copperplate etching showing people demanding an apology and compensation from the United States is seen in Yeongdong County in Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea, on July 28, 2022. The No Gun Ri massacre, one of the deadliest assaults the U.S. army had committed during the Korean War, had been buried deep in history, until The Associated Press uncovered the horrible tragedy in 1999. After the outbreak of the war, U.S. troops soon suffered setbacks while forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) were marching forward. On July 26, 1950, out of the fear that the DPRK guerrilla troops might disguise themselves as refugees, U.S. commanders ordered units retreating through South Korea to shoot civilians. A throng of refugees, many of them women and children, were killed in an air attack and by small- and heavy-weapons fire of the U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment at a railroad bridge near the village of No Gun Ri in central South Korea, said the

Technology to etch Kai semiconductor with fluoroplastic instead of CFC gas

Technology to etch Kai semiconductor with fluoroplastic instead of CFC gas

The established technology will be used for dry etching, thin film formation and cleaning of silicon. Easy-to-handle gases such as argon and nitrogen are irradiated onto solid fluoropolymers to generate fluorine-containing gas. The gas is then used for plasma treatment. Using a proto device with electrodes developed for special equipment, the company irradiated nitrogen gas and etched a glass substrate, and was able to etch 40 nanometers in one minute. The company plans to achieve an etching speed of 200 nanometers for commercialization. Plasma is an unstable state in which electrons have been removed from molecules, and it modifies the surface of materials, improving adhesion and cleaning effects. Sumitomo Seimitsu Industries, Ltd. and Collins Aerospace Corporation of the U.S. will increase the production capacity of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors by up to five times the current level by 2024. In addition to conventional products such as inertial sensors for aerospace applications, contract production of various sensors required for automation of factories and machines will grow significantly. Silicon Sensing Systems (SSSL, Plymouth), an English subsidiary established by the two companies in 1999 with a 50% stake each, has its sole production base at the headquarters of Sumitomo Precision Products. As the first phase of the expansion, the plant will be moved to another building by August 2008, and expanded to 3,000 square meters, about twice the current size. In addition to a clean room, etching and sputtering equipment will be added, doubling the production capacity.
