High-Quality Compost Production In Patumbak - Indonesia

Organic fertiliser derived from processed livestock waste has become an essential resource for local farmers in response to the inconsistent availability of subsidised inorganic fertilisers. On October 30, 2025, Purnomo, a staff member at PT Nousindo Nusatara Agri’s compost processing plant, showcased the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute (PPKS) Laboratory Analysis Certification in Patumbak, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. This certification confirms that the local compost fertiliser meets quality standards necessary for soil nutrient requirements and supports small-scale fertiliser industries in participating in the national food program. PT Nousindo's conversion of cow dung into high-quality compost offers a vital independent solution for agricultural sustainability. Photo by Aditya Sutanta/ABACAPRESS.COM

STANDUP(English): LIU CHANG, Xinhua correspondent STORYLINE: STANDUP (English): LIU CHANG, Xinhua correspondent "According to the UN Food and Agricultural Organization, Russia and Ukraine are major global food producers and exporters. Experts are predicting an inflation and food price spike will hit Africa this year, as agricultural imports and supply chains in the region are blocked, and fertiliser and commodity prices soar. Wheat imports account for roughly half of Africa's 4.5 billion (U.S. dollars) trade with Ukraine, and for about 90% of the continent's 4 billion (U.S. dollars) trade with Russia, according to figures from the African Development Bank. Over 65% of Senegal's wheat imports come from Russia and Ukraine, and a number of bakers and consumers in Dakar said they are bracing for supply shortages and increased costs in the mont

Vynova Factory - Mazingarbe

A part of Vynova factory is seen, on April 1st, 2021, Mazingarbe, France. In Mazingarbe, a small town near Lens, Pas-de-Calais, the Madrid-based management of Maxam Tan, a Seveso-classified site, has deserted the company, which is located on a 160-hectare site, and abandoned its seventy-four employees. The latter, while awaiting the judicial liquidation decided by the commercial court of the European Metropolis of Lille on 13 April, are now the only ones to ensure the safety of the ammonitrate (nitrogen fertiliser) factory. This ammonia tank, still filled with 750 tonnes of product, must be emptied according to a strict protocol that only the Mazingarbe employees have mastered.
