Skymark Airlines launches int'l chartered service

TOKYO, Japan - Passengers board a plane chartered by Skymark Airlines at Tokyo's Haneda aiport in the wee hours of Aug. 24 to head for Seoul. Skymark, which entered the domestic airline market in 1998 as the first newcomer in 35 years, became the first Japanese discount carrier to fly overseas.

Miyazaki-based SkynetAsia is the first newcomer airline offering domestic flights to and from Tokyo's busy Haneda airport since Skymark Airlines and Hokkaido International Airlines launched Tokyo-Fukuoka and Tokyo-Sapporo services, respectively, in the late 1990s.
