KUMAMOTO, Japan - Latvia's Ainars Kiksis offers a handshake to Australia's Shane Kelly (C) who halted his five-race winning streak to clinch his first win in the international keirin series on Kumamoto velodrome track May 8. Shaking hands with Kelly is runner-up Pavel Buran (R) of the Czech Republic. Kelly, the 1-km time-trial bronze medalist at the Sydney Olympics last September, had finished third, second, second, sixth and second in the previous five rounds. Kiksis saw his perfect streak come to an end, settling for third place.

TOKYO, Japan - Olympic bronze medalist Joyce Chepchumba of Kenya ends Japan's five-race winning streak in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon on Nov. 19, pulling away from Reiko Tosa over the second half of the race to win by more than 200 meters. Chepchumba, who steadily increased her lead on the return portion of the 42.195-kilometer race, crosses the finish line at National Stadium in 2 hours, 24 minutes, 2 seconds for the first-ever victory by a runner from Africa in the race.
