Students affected by Niigata quakes given mufflers

NAGAOKA, Japan - Japanese junior high school students in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, who were affected by the Oct. 23 earthquakes in the prefecture, are presented with hand-made mufflers on Jan. 8 by a group of foreigners and Japanese youths who lost their parents in wars and earthquakes overseas and in the Great Hanshin Earthquake.

Nagoya vendor blackmailed by importers over knockoff mufflers

NAGOYA, Japan - Koji Matsumoto, president of a Nagoya-based distributor of Burberry wool mufflers, tells a news conference in Nagoya on Sept. 7 that the wholesaler, Matsumoto, has received a blackmail threat and implicit demand for money from its importer because they are fakes. He said the wholesaler will file a complaint against the importer with police.
