Hong Kong: Long Lines of Mourners at Tai Po High-Rise Fire Site

On November 30, near the site of the high-rise apartment fire in the Tai Po district that occurred on Wednesday, November 26, a long line of people visiting to pay their respects was seen. Hundreds laid flowers, wrote messages, and prayed for the victims, The Wang Fuk Court fire has so far claimed 159 lives, and around 30 people remain unaccounted for. This video shows the line of people stretching all the way to Lam Tsuen River.

People remember 1985 JAL crash victims in Gunma Pref.

UENO, Japan - People release paper lanterns on a river in the village of Ueno, Gunma Prefecture, in memory of the 1985 Japan Airlines jumbo jet crash victims and prayed for the safety of air transportation on Aug. 11, 2010, the eve of the memorial ceremony. All but four of the 524 passengers and crew members aboard were killed in the world's worst single-aircraft accident.

Yukake Festival takes place in Kawarayu Hot Springs

NAGANOHARA, Japan - Men wearing traditional Japanese loincloths splash each other with warm water at the Kawarayu hot spring district in Naganohara, Gunma Prefecture, on Jan. 20, 2010, during the annual Yukake Festival. Some 60 men took part in the ritual as they prayed for the prosperity of the region. The resort district had been scheduled to be submerged due to the construction of a dam, known as the Yamba Dam, until the Democratic Party of Japan decided to abort the project.

260-kg tuna offered at shrine for business prosperity

NISHINOMIYA, Japan - A child held up by an adult puts a coin atop a 260-kilogram tuna offered at the Nishinomiya Shrine, which enshrines the god of business prosperity, in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, on Jan. 8, 2010. The tuna was offered by a local marine products wholesalers' group to the shrine and worshippers placed coins on its body and prayed for economic fortune as an annual event that started in 1970.
