ODESA REGION, UKRAINE - NOVEMBER 17, 2024 - A man removes broken shingle tiles from the roof of a house damaged by a large-scale Russian missile strike, Odesa region, southern Ukraine. In the recent massive attack, Russian troops launched 210 aerial targets - 120 missiles and 90 drones - aimed mainly at the energy sector facilities across Ukraine. Ukraines Defence Forces shot down 102 rockets and 42 drones used by Russian forces to attack Ukraine since the evening of November 16, while 41 UAVs disappeared from radars.

KYOTO, Japan - Kinkakuji Temple (the Temple of the Golden Pavilion), one of the most famous tourist attractions in Kyoto, is undergoing renovation work Dec. 3 on its 100,000-shingle roof for the first time in 22 years. The temple is expected to have a brand-new roof by the end of March next year.

The northwestern part of Hiunkaku at Nishihonganji Temple is viewed from the north side of the pond in Tekisui Garden. Hiunkaku is said to be a part of a mansion built in the Momoyama Period. It is a three-story, cypress-shingle roofed, palace-style building. The north and south sides are about 25.8m long, the east side about 11.8m and the west side about 12.5m.
