Civil Guard Highlights Major Ivory Seizure in Spain

Two Guardia Civil officers show one of the largest seizures of ivory pieces in Spain, at the Guardia Civil Command of Valencia, on August 4, 2025, in Valencia, Valencian Community (Spain). The operation began when in October 2024 an unusually high traffic of ivory pieces was detected in the province of Valencia. The agents located a trading company in Valencia where 127 ivory pieces of different sizes, carved in a minimalist style, mainly with Asian aesthetics, were exhibited. (230807) -- SHISHOU, Aug. 7, 2023 (Xinhua) -- Two male milu deer fight at Shishou Milu Deer National Nature Reserve in central China's Hubei Province, Aug. 1, 2023. Milu deer at Shishou Milu Deer National Nature Reserve mate between June and August every year, during which the males fight each other for the privilege to stay together with as many females as they wish. To ensure a safe and tranquil environment for their reproduction, rangers here have been spending more time and efforts patrolling the nature reserve during this period. After years of efforts by protectors and continuous improvement of the local ecological environment, the population of milu deer at the nature reserve has increased rapidly, nearing 2,000 to date. There are more than 10 naturally formed breeding groups in varying sizes among these milu deer, and more baby milu deer are expected to come to the world after mating season this year. Christian art book partly made from pure gold to go on sale

TOKYO, Japan - Mitsubishi Materials Corp. said Feb. 18 it will put on sale copies of a book about Christian history and art partly made from pure gold, in commemoration of the new millennium. The ''Seinen Jubileum Gold Book'' has 87 pages, of which 40 are made from pure gold. It will be sold in two sizes, with one priced at 950,000 yen and the other at 3 million yen.
