Toyota unveils fully remodeled Harrier SUV

NAGOYA, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. on Feb. 17 begins selling its wholly remodeled Harrier luxury sport-utility vehicle (SUV) (photo), sold by the name of Lexus RX overseas. For safety, the top-of-the-line ''AIRS'' model uses millimeter-wave radar to observe vehicles and objects on the road ahead to judge whether a collision is unavoidable and imminent in light of their position, speed and course. The second-generation Harrier comes in two engine sizes, 2400 cc and 3000 cc. Prices range from 2.49 million yen to 3.67 million yen depending on the equipment offered. (Kyodo)

Toyota to file for recall of luxury Lexus models Monday

TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. will file on July 5 for a recall of eight models, including luxury Lexus cars, due to an engine defect that could cause the vehicles to stop while in motion, affecting about 90,000 units in Japan, company officials said on July 2, 2010. The recall will cover the top-of-the-line LS460 sedan (file photo) and other Lexus models -- the LS600h, LS600hL, GS350, GS450h, GS460 and IS350 -- as well as the Toyota Crown. (Kyodo)

Toyota launches Lexus RX, 1st SUV under Lexus brand in Japan
