Byodoin-Phoenix Hall-Kyoto

Byodoin-Hoodo (Phoenix Hall) - A temple founded in the 11th century at Uji, southeast of Kyoto. Originally a large compound of buildings, its chief relic today is the Hoodo (Phoenix Hall), which is one of the finest examples of the aristcratic art and architecture of the late Heian period(794-1185).

With the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, experts of the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion have scanned the 16th-century church and created a 3D model and virtual tour of the temple.

Haikou boasts the largest and best-preserved Qilou compound in China, which was included by the state authorities in the country's first list of historic streets in 2009. Most Qilou in the city were built in early 1900s by returned overseas Chinese with ideas borrowed from architecture of the Southeast Asia where they used to live.
