U.S. carrier Kitty Hawk leaves Yokosuka

The U.S. aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk leaves its home port of Yokosuka, southwest of Tokyo, on Wednesday morning Sept. 30 to take part in joint maneuvers with Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force in the Sea of Japan in early October. This is the first voyage for the 81,123-ton Kitty Hawk since it replaced the aircraft carrier Independence in August at the U.S. naval base at Yokosuka. ==Kyodo
