'Domino' transplant involving 4 people begins
KYOTO, Japan - A team of doctors led by Prof. Koichi Tanaka at Kyoto University Hospital commences a sequence of liver transplant operations involving four people July 9. The operations are aimed at saving the lives of three patients using a liver portion donated by a healthy man. The operations, the first such surgery in Japan and known as a ''domino'' transplant, will continue until the morning of July 10. The photo was provided by the hospital.
