Niigata man pleads guilty to confining girl for 9 years

NIIGATA, Japan - People form long queues outside the Niigata District Court on May 23 for admission tickets into the first hearing in trial of Nobuyuki Sato, a 37-year-old unemployed man charged with abduction. Sato pleaded guilty to abducting a 9-year-old girl in 1990 and holding her captive for nine years and two months at his home in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture.
