Nagata advances to gold medal final

SYDNEY, Australia - Japan's Katsuhiko Nagata outlasts two-time European champion Alexei Glouchov of Russia on Sept. 27 to advance to the gold medal round in greco-roman wrestling at the Sydney Olympic Games. Nagata, who only finished 30th in last year's world championships, scored three points in the first minute of the second period and then held on for a 3-1 victory in the semifinals of the 69-kilogram class at Darling Harbour Exhibition Hall.

Takimoto beat Cho In Chul of South Korea in the final to win the gold medal in his first Olympic appearance.
