1st Japanese-developed chopper crashes in Mie, pilot killed
TSU, Japan - A damaged helicopter lies on a rice paddy in Mie Prefecture on Nov. 27 after it crashed while on a trial flight. The pilot was killed and five men on board were injured, police and firefighters said. The MH2000 model helicopter was produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. as one of the first purely domestically developed helicopters. The accident occurred in Suzuka about 40 minutes after the helicopter took off from the company's factory in Toyoyama in neighboring Aichi Prefecture.
