German conductor Wand dies at 90
BERLIN, Germany - Guenter Wand, a noted German conductor with a large following in Japan, died Feb. 14 at his home in Switzerland at the age of 90. Wand began his career as an opera conductor in Cologne in 1939 and later conducted various orchestras, including the Cologne Gurzenich Orchestra and the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra.
