Ex-aide to LDP's Kato arrested in tax evasion case

TOKYO, Japan - Koichi Kato, former secretary general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), is surrounded by reporters as he leaves his home in Tokyo on March 8 following the arrest of a former aide on suspicion of tax evasion. Saburo Sato was arrested by prosecutors on suspicion of evading 104 million yen in tax by concealing 277 million yen in income in the three years through 2000.
