Chiba Univ. introduces mine-detecting robot

CHIBA, Japan - A research group at Chiba University introduced April 1 a computer-controlled mine-detecting robot, developed as a part of Japan's program of aid to Afghanistan. The group said it will begin tests for COMET3 in May using land mines without gunpowder and that the robot will start mine-detecting work in Afghanistan after one year of tests.
