    TOKYO, Japan - Renowned economist Michio Morishima (file photo), professor emeritus at the University of London and Osaka University, died of old age at a hospital in Britain on July 13, Osaka University said on July 15. He was 80. Morishima, who was from Kobe, western Japan, and resided in Brentwood, Essex, made contributions to the progress in theoretical economics and was a one-time candidate for a Nobel Prize in economics.         Japanese researchers develop low-noise wind power system

        TOKYO, Japan - A new low-noise wind power system that can adapt to changes in wind direction and continue rotating is set to hit the market in Japan for public use. Kazuichi Seki, professor of a Tokai University science and technology research center and a member of a team that developed the system, said similar research on the development of such windmill-shaped generators has been done abroad but that this is the first time such a system has been put to practical use.           TOKYO, Japan - The Science and Technology Foundation of Japan announces in Tokyo on Dec. 13 that the Japan Prize for 2002 will be awarded to Anne McLaren (L) of Britain, Andrzej Tarkowski (C) of Poland and Tim Berners-Lee of Britain. Mclaren, 74, a principal research associate at the Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research Campaign Institute, and Tarkowski, 68, director of the Institute of Zoology at Warsaw University, share the prize in the field of health care and therapeutic science and technology for their contribution to the research of developmental biology of mammals. Berners-Lee, a senior researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Laboratory for Computer Science, is selected in the field of system science and technology for his invention of the World Wide Web.
