Abductees' kin leave for Geneva to attend U.N. session

TOKYO, Japan - Shigeo Iizuka (L) and Sakie Yokota, whose family members were abducted to North Korea in late 1970s, leave Narita airport on April 20 to attend a meeting of the U.N. Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances in Geneva to resolve the abduction issue. Iizuka's sister Yaeko Taguchi was lured by North Korean agents from Miyazaki Prefecture at the age of 22 in 1978, while Yokota's daughter Megumi was abducted from Niigata Prefecture in 1977 at the age of 13. Abductees' relatives home from U.S. with unexpected results

TOKYO, March 8 Kyodo - Relatives of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea give a press conference at Narita airport on returning to Japan from the United States on March 8. They said they achieved better results than they had expected. ''I wasn't sure what levels of people we'd be able to see, but we were able to achieve a lot more than we had expected, with the help of many people,'' said Shigeru Yokota (2nd from L), who headed the group.
