MIYAMA, Japan -A resident is rescued by a firefighter in the town of Miyama, Fukui Prefecture, where part of a river embankment was broken by heavy rainfalls on July 18. Thousands of households have been advised to evacuate, including 1,370 in the prefectural capital Fukui and 1,100 in Miyama. (Kyodo)
