Japan to develop high-tech space suit ahead of U.S. moon project

TOKYO, Japan - The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency is considering developing a high-tech space suit (in an artist's image) to participate in a project envisaged by the United States to send astronauts to the moon in 2018, agency officials said Dec. 21. They said that by drawing on technological prowess from the nation's academia, industry and government sectors, the agency is hoping to produce a suit for astronauts to wear when conducting exploration activities on the surface of the moon.
