Nobel award ceremony takes place, 3 Japanese scientists honored

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Osamu Shimomura, professor emeritus at Boston University, receives his medal and diploma from Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Stockholm Concert Hall on Dec. 10. Shimomura shared the prize in chemistry with two other scientists -- Martin Chalfie, a professor at Columbia University, and Roger Tsien, a professor at the University of California in San Diego.
