People dedicate New Year's prayers to SMAP in hopes the band reforms
A wooden plaque, used by worshipers at shrines and temples in Japan to state their wishes and prayers, says, "Please help make SMAP get back together," found among dozens of plaques at Tokyo's Gotokuji temple on Jan. 4, 2017. SMAP, one of Japan's most beloved bands, broke up on Dec. 31, 2016 after nearly 30-year career as pop idols. (Kyodo)
