Japanese doctor aims to be Paralympic Nordic ski classifier

Yusuke Sasaki (R back), an orthopedist at Asahikawa Medical University, observes in Asahikawa on Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido on Feb. 13, 2015, a classification session during which a Paralympic athlete's impairment is assessed for groupings by determining the degree of activity limitation. The IPC Nordic Skiing World Cup was held in the Japanese city. Sasaki, who is aiming to become an International Paralympic Committee athlete classifier for Nordic skiing, will be the only Japanese classifier for the sport if he successfully qualifies.
