Gear unveiled to simulate visual abnormalities of people with autism

A model demonstrates during a press event on March 16, 2015, in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, western Japan, how a head-mounted display device developed by a team of researchers from Osaka University and the University of Tokyo enables the wearer to experience the world as seen by people with autism spectrum disorder. An example of the computer-processed visual image simulating abnormal perception in the disorder is projected on the screen in the background, shown with small dots in white and other colors.
