Japanese, African orphans to hold joint concerts in U.S.

Yoshiomi Tamai, chairman of the Tokyo-based Ashinaga Organization supporting orphans in their education, tells Kyodo News in New York on March 9, 2015, that Ashinaga will hold concerts in New York and Washington in June featuring singing and musical instrument performances by orphans from sub-Saharan African countries and Japanese children orphaned by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. The concerts are designed to raise awareness of Ashinaga's project to sponsor African orphans' studies abroad which it expects will eventually help develop their home countries. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
