Univ. of Washington professor Torii gets Japan award for female scientists
University of Washington professor Keiko Torii, concurrently visiting professor at Nagoya University, meets the press after winning the 2015 "Saruhashi Award" in Tokyo on April 21, 2015, for elucidating the molecular mechanisms of stomatal development on a plant leaf. The award, named after the late Japanese geochemist Katsuko Saruhashi, is given to a female scientist every year. (Kyodo)
