Lifting of coronavirus state of emergency in Japan
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe meets the press in Tokyo on May 25, 2020, to announce the lifting of a coronavirus state of emergency in five prefectures -- Hokkaido, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa and Tokyo. The action, taken in response to recent dwindling virus infections, followed the earlier lifting of the emergency in 42 of Japan's 47 prefectures, entirely ending the measure enforced on April 7.
