Fujii becomes youngest challenger for major shogi title

Seventeen-year-old pro shogi player Sota Fujii meets the press in Tokyo on June 4, 2020, after defeating Takuya Nagase in the challenger tournament final for the Kisei title, one of shogi's eight major titles. Fujii will face off with the current Kisei title holder, Akira Watanabe, in the best-of-five series starting May 8, becoming the youngest challenger for a major title in Japan's shogi history.
