Ainu minority's lawsuit over salmon fishing rights
Koki Nagane (R), who heads a group of ethnic minority Ainu from the Hokkaido town of Urahoro, speaks at a press conference after the group filed a lawsuit with the Sapporo District Court on Japan's northernmost main island on Aug. 17, 2020, against the central and Hokkaido governments asking them to confirm the indigenous people's exemption from a state ban on commercial fishing of salmon in rivers.
