Six finalists, including some foreign names, will compete for the 30th Czech Jindrich Chalupecky Award for young visual artists with the winner to be announced in late November or early December, the organisers said at a press conference today, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Among the finalists are Andreas Gajdosik, who uses social networks to create artistic objects, Baptiste Charneux (photo), a Frenchman living in Prague who works with ceramics, filmmaker Marie Lukacova, painter Pavla Malinova, Alma Lily Rayner, Israeli-born activist who focuses on the topic of sexual violence, and the Comunite Fresca group of Dana Balazova, Marketa Filipova and Marie Stindlova. The jury said that the finalists from outside the Czech Republic prove that they also contribute to forming the Czech artistic scene. The finalists' exhibition will take place in autumn in the Moravian Gallery Brno and will also show works of British artist Tai Shani. (CTK Photo/Roman Vondrous)
