Inside of main gate of chion-in temple
In the tower of the Sanmon at Chion-in Temple. The mirrored ceiling has coloured illustrations of angels and Kalavinka (an imaginary bird referred to in Buddhist sutras). Mitesaki tokyo (entablature in square frames) can be seen between the ceiling and pillars. The mirrored ceiling and entablature are features of the Zen Sect widely adopted after the Muromachi era.
