NEC to cut 10,000 jobs worldwide

TOKYO, Japan - NEC Corp. President Nobuhiro Endo holds a press conference in Tokyo on Jan. 26, 2012. Endo said the company will cut 10,000 jobs worldwide -- 7,000 domestic and 3,000 overseas -- in the first half of fiscal 2012. The measure is part of NEC's restructuring as its earnings have deteriorated due to the effects of the massive flooding in Thailand and sluggish mobile phone business. (Kyodo)
