      Moss Food Service's experiment to introduce "Slow Cash Register" using Orihime

      On April 21, Moss Food Service disclosed to the press an experiment to introduce a "slow cash register" using Orihime (photo), an alter ego robot from ORIY Laboratory (Minato-ku, Tokyo), at the Moss Burger Osaki store (Shinagawa-ku) from April 27. While conversing with customers, the operators move Orihime with their personal computers or smart phones and also input orders. The order is transferred to the store via the Internet and the order is completed. The operator, Hiroto Takehisa, 19, a resident of Osaka Prefecture, said, "The operation is not difficult. I will have fun while doing it. The experiment will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays until the end of August. Based on the results of this experiment, Moss Food Service plans to conduct other experiments within fiscal 2020, including drive-through order handling and meal delivery operations using self-propelled robots.         On April 13, 18 restaurants in Yokohama's Chinatown (Naka Ward, Yokohama City) began offering a drive-through service, as the number of visitors to the area has declined due to the spread of the new coronavirus.           Picking solution robot that Nippon Express aims to put to practical use

          Nippon Express will commercialize a collaborative picking solutionfor logistics warehouses by the end of fiscal 2019, using robots (photo) from Rapyuta Robotics (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Rapyuta Robotics). The company conducted a demonstration at its own distribution warehouse in June. Another demonstration experiment will be conducted in September with the aim of putting the system into practical use. The Laputa robot is an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) that assists people in their picking work. The core of the technology is the control and management of multiple robots in accordance with the progress of the work. The robots move along the aisles of the product shelves, show the workers the items to be removed from the shelves, and then transport the removed items.             Kaken Seiko (Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) has developed a new type of compact, single-bar transfer device that can be retrofitted to press machines. The company will start offering the product at the end of July. The price will be determined in the future. The company aims to sell 1,060 units a year. Three types of KTES series single-bar transfer machines will be available. The KTES series already uses the same method, but this time it uses linear servo motors. Depending on the stroke of each axis and the angle of motion assignment, the number of shots of the press machine can be increased from 50 to 75 per minute, which increases productivity. The manufacturer of the press machine to install this equipment is not required. First, we will introduce the 1200 mm wide x 1350 mm deep minimum x 180 mm high type.
