Sharp to sell 80-inch TV

OSAKA, Japan - Photo taken in Osaka on April 18, 2012, shows Sharp Corp.'s 80-inch LCD TV. The company said the same day it will release in Japan in June a new line of its Aquos brand televisions, including one with an 80-inch liquid crystal display panel, which will be the biggest in Japan.                     Panasonic will increase its share of the domestic market for 60-inch and larger electronic blackboards to 30% (4,000 units) in fiscal 2008, up 10 percentage points from fiscal 2006, using 4K high-definition touch-screen LCD displays. The estimated market price is 600,000 yen (excluding consumption tax) for the 65-inch model and 1,400,000 yen for the 75-inch model. A new "comparison mode" that can display up to nine screens has been added so that multiple opinions can be shown on the display and shared in group learning. Up to four teaching materials can be displayed so that digital textbooks can be used effectively. It has acquired "Color Universal Design Certification" for its color scheme, which is distinguishable even by people with color blindness. Sharp (36%), Panasonic (25%), and NEC (16%) hold the largest share of the domestic market for commercial displays.                       Towa Electric Industry's 6-kilowatt charger for electric vehicles

                      Towa Electric Industry (Kita Ward, Okayama City), in cooperation with Wako Denken (Yao City, Osaka Prefecture), has commercialized a low-cost 6-kilowatt battery charger for electric vehicles (EVs). The total price (excluding consumption tax) is about 200,000 yen if installation work is also undertaken, which is about half the cost of installing a standard 6-kilowatt charger. The battery can be recharged in 12.5 hours with Nissan's LEAF e+ EV, halving the recharging time compared to a 3-kilowatt charger. Towa Electric Industry is engaged in the maintenance of power generation facilities, telecommunications work, and electrical work for stores in Okayama and Hiroshima prefectures.
