Tomi Nakagawa, one of 1st Japanese immigrants to Brazil, dies at
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Tomi Nakagawa (in a wheelchair), the last remaining member of the first group of Japanese that immigrated to Brazil in 1908, speaks with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko who visited Brazil in June 1997. Nakagawa died of natural causes on Oct. 11 at her home in Londrina, her family said. She was 100. (Kyodo)
