War-displaced Japanese withdraw suit to seek damages from state

SAITAMA, Japan - A group of 18 war-displaced women from China seeking 594 million yen in damages from the state for what they see as inadequate support after their homecoming walk toward the Saitama District Court in Saitama, Saitama Prefecture on Dec. 7 to withdraw their lawsuit against the state. They dropped the lawsuit after the government revised a law to beef up support for them in late November. (Kyodo)
