Narita Foods president arrested for alleged pork tariff evasion

CHIBA, Japan - Masaaki Tanabe, president of meat wholesaler Narita Foods Co.Aleaves his home in the city of Abiko, Chiba Prefecture, on Feb. 6 to be questioned by prosecutors on suspicion of evading some 5.9 billion yen in tariffs that are imposed on low-priced pork imports to protect domestic producers.
