Kuwata tapped to make major league debut

NEW YORK, United States - Former Yomiuri Giants right-hander Masumi Kuwata (file photo), now with the Pittsburg Pirates' Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis, has been elevated to the big leagues, a club spokesman said June 9. The 39-year-old veteran sprained his right ankle in a spring training game against the Toronto Blue Jays on March 26 after colliding with home plate umpire Wally Bell. (Kyodo)
