Sapporo, Kochi courts reject war orphans' damages claims

SAPPORO, Japan - The Sapporo District Court in session on June 15. The court issued a ruling rejecting a damages lawsuit filed by a group of war-displaced Japanese from China asking for state compensation over their plight in Japan. The Kochi District Court also delivered a similar ruling on the same day. A total of 2,200 war-displaced Japanese have filed 15 damages suits at various district courts in Japan since 2001.
